When we set off on a trip, no matter how long, we take some sort of kit with us. Traveling on a motorbike involves a lot of kit, especially if you plan to stay out over night, or if your riding in a place where help is very limited. Below is some of the kit I never leave home without:
Garmin Zumo with Middle East mapping. Great on and off-road. Used with the Garmin BaseCamp App. |
Garmin Foretrex 401. Normally for walking but very useful to check nav and record waypoints. |
Drift Ghost HD video camera & remote control. Normally mounted on my helmet (with mic) or fog light. |
North Face "Gulper" day sack. It carries 2l of water, emergency food, my lunch, hat, spare goggles and other bits. |
Leatherman Wave. Fantastic do-it-all multi-tool. It goes everywhere with me. |
Nokia. Far more robust than a smart phone. It only makes calls and send texts, what more do you need?
|
There's more to it than that, but I know that as long as I'm on the bike and carrying this kit then if I break down or crash I can keep myself going until help arrives, and record the event to laugh at later.
